According to Wikipedia the “golden hour” refers to a time period lasting from a few minutes to several hours following traumatic injury being sustained by a casualty, during which there is the highest likelihood that prompt medical treatment will prevent death. This is the definition of “golden hour” in terms of a medical situation. Funny. I’m a nurse and this is the first I’m hearing of this.
But, I’m also a photographer. When taking photos, the “golden hour” or also referred to as the magic hour is the last hour of the day when there is still sunlight. It’s known to produce the best photos. You can even do an online search and find a calculator that gives you the best time. I’ve taken lots of pictures and it’s not easy making sure that your subject(s) are in place during that hour.
However, I recently took shots of a friends four kids and I couldn’t have hit the nail on the head better. Check these out!
I took approximately 40 shots and as far as the lighting goes everyone of them turned out great! As much as I’d love to post all of them, there just isn’t enough time or room… but you get the idea.
